Dayspring in Mission: Food Bank Depot

Dayspring has been a Depot of Edmonton’s Food Bank for over 25 years. We’ve been able to provide volunteers EVERY SINGLE Thursday during that time, except for a couple of months that the Food Bank was shut down in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many Dayspringers have volunteered their time to keep it going through all of these years.
Dayspring was awarded the 2020 Janet Hughes Award from Edmonton’s Food Bank. Since 2000, the Janet Hughes Award has been presented in recognition of a person or organization that lessen food insecurity in our city.
The Dayspring Church Food Bank Depot navigated the problems of the pandemic with creative solutions. Our Youth Coordinator mobilized young volunteers to manage the depot in the early days of the pandemic. Then we partnered with another church, The neighbourhood Food Bank Depot continues to serve the community.
